Double Nine Patch Topper This pattern uses the complimentary pattern for the 9 inch block we handed out during the 2009 MN State Shop Hop Complete directions are posted here so if you did not receive the block pattern during that time you can still use this pattern!!
CUTTING & FABRIC REQUIREMENTS Cut (8) 3 1/2 inch squares from motif fabric (1/4 yard) Cut (2) 3 1/2 inch squares from light fabric (additional motif squares work too) Cut (44) 1 1/2 inch squares from light fabric (fat quarter) Cut (55) 1 1/2 inch squares from dark fabric (fat quarter) Cut (2) 1 1/2 inch x width of fabric strips from Border #1 fabric (1/8 yard) Cut (3) 2 1/2 inch x width of fabric strips from Border #2 fabric (1/4 yard) Cut (3) 2 1/2 inch x width of fabric strips from Binding fabric (1/4 yard) Backing fabric (1/2 yard)
Assembly Arrange the 1 1/2 inch squares into Nine Patch units referring to Diagram A. Sew together the squares in each row. Press seams to dark fabric. Sew the rows together to create the Nine Patch unit. Press seams open. Repeat for a total of (11) Nine Patch units. Refer to diagram B to arrange the blocks into the table topper. Sew the units together to create rows. Sew the rows together to create the table topper. Press seams open.

Measure your table top center lengthwise and cut (2) Border #1 strips this length. Sew in place. Press seams open. Measure table top center widthwise and cut (2) Border #1 strips this measurement. Sew in place. Press seams open. Measure the table top center lengthwise and cut (2) Border #2 strips this length. Sew in place. Press seams open. Measure table topper center widthwise and cut (2) Border strips this length. Sew in place. Press seams open. Layer quilt top. Quilt as desired. Bind & enjoy!!
