Shades of the Past Quilt Shop

About Us

We are a mother/daughter design team who have been blessed to work together creating the patterns you see here on our website. Previously, we owned and operated Shades of the Past Quilt Shop in Clara City, MN. One of our favorite aspects of the quilt shop was the design element. The year 2017 had many changes in store for our future. We decided to close the quilt shop, move our studio home to the farm, concentrate fully on design, and venture into the cyberspace world that gives us shopping 24/7. We are excited to share this next chapter in our life journey with you on this website.

A little background about us...........

Darci (mother) enjoys working with wool and loves to create wool applique and fusible cotton applique. She enjoys a traditional style and dark colors. She likes fast to piece projects as her attention span isn't real long!! Her inspiration comes from God's beauty in nature. Growing up on a dairy farm, the rural environment has brought a lot of inspiration. She does appreciate the architecture of the big city too as there is a lot of design to be taken from that as well. She works part time at a tax office but still prefers a needle and thread to a pen!!

Lacey (daughter) enjoys English paper piecing as well as cotton piecing. She enjoys traditional but also likes to dabble in the contemporary style as well. She is more likely to work with a variety of colors and likes Sweetwater and Basic Grey styles the best. She is a patient quilter and is more likely to create large quilts with multiple blocks and tiny pieces. She is the hand quilter with fine stitches which can also be found in her embroidery. She works PRN as a Physical Therapist Assistant and most recently became a full time stay at home mom.

When we aren't working we both enjoy the MN Wild, auto racing, walking, and antiques. We enjoy the many creative and caring customers that we now call friends in our quilting/stitching journey. We hope you enjoy our "new" store and hope you follow our blog to see what inspiration has led to a new creation. Piece & Blessings ~ Darci & Lacey
