Shades of the Past Quilt Shop

Where does the time go? | Feb 11th 2018

As the phrase goes....Today is the first day of the rest of your life.... - Can't look back other than to see the last blog post was December 24th! WOW! There are lots of things that occupy our days and I guess at the end of my tax office work day, my fingers prefer cotton, wool or just some rest rather than the computer keys at home! We have been busy creating as there are upcoming quilt shows to have new items for as well as continuing to try to expand our website. We appreciate feedback on the website as we don't know what your shopping experience may be so please email us if you are having problems - it is the only way we can get it fixed and make it a pleasant experience for everyone!

en we ordered our new fabric to create with we both ordered reds to work with. Lacey ordered from one of her favorite designers Sweetwater and I order from Minnick & Simpson. She has her project sewn, quilted, and bound. I added the borders to mine this morning and layered it so...... she won!! It was our intent to have reds for February - I still have a couple of days to make the deadline which is how I like to work - lets not rush into these things and she of course is much more prepared and made the deadline before February came!! Hard to believe we are mother/daughter!! We laugh at how different our creativity is as she likes multiple blocks that are often complex and I like one or two of the same and then lets change it up with some large pieces to complete. It is a good balance tho in the quilting world! Her red project is named "Pigeon Falls". We are still waiting for the fabric to arrive - it shows it is ready to ship but the ship hasn't sailed yet with it!

As soon as the fabric arrives in the shop we will have kits available on the website. The runner measures 13 x 22 inches and uses a candy pack.

Her latest hexagon project is called Abigail Lane. She used Bonnie & Camille's "The Good Life" fabric line to create the project. The embroidery added a special touch to the project. Kits for this project are available on our website. Project measures 15 x 17 inches.

I am saving my sewing projects for a later post as the quilting always finishes up the project. I have three projects I am creating using Farmhouse Reds, Home Grown, and Ahoy Me Hearties. I also have a couple of new wool projects that I hope to finish up while I watch ice skating during the Winter Olympics.

We have exciting news to share with you so stay tuned for our next post..
