Thanksgiving... | Nov 22nd 2018

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone reading this blog post today. Thanksgiving - what does it mean? When I was a kid I believe I thought it was the holiday that brought out a turkey, dressing, and pumpkin pie. I remember thinking it meant that Christmas was going to be here soon and I loved Christmas as a kid. I remember how disappointed I was because we would leave for Grandma's house during the Macy Thanksgiving Day parade and I would hope Dad would drive fast enough that when we arrived at Grandma's house I would get my way made through the relatives to the TV to see Santa Claus. It was one of my favorite things to see as I knew Christmas was well on its way then!! As we grow old, our perception of holidays changes. Many say Thanksgiving is forgotten because the retail world is busy enticing us with black friday sales and the stores are filled with Christmas decorations weeks before Thanksgiving comes. Thanksgiving is now a day of sentiment for me. It is a day to reflect on all the things that God has given to me over the years and a time to be thankful for the many many many blessings I have received. It is a holiday without any expectations, a day of contentment and without turkey on the menu as it never was my favorite food!! I hope your day was filled with good food, laughter, and a sense of peace and contentment with all the blessings that have been bestowed upon you as well!! Darci
